Michelle (Mishy) Katz, Master Potter, is a talented artist and well known in the Arizona community for her work and unique clay learning center, Desert Dragon Pottery. Mishy produces one-of-a-kind clay artwork, handmade tile and functional pottery for everyday use. She has a degree in fine arts and has worked in clay for over twenty years. You can see Michelle’s work outside Phoenix City Hall where a chair created for the CHAIRity 2001 auction was purchased and donated to the City for the eastside courtyard. Channin Graham is an accomplished artist and Director of Education for Art Based Classes. She possesses a Bachelors of Fine Arts from Arizona State University and is currently working on her Master and Teaching Certificate. Which is a formality as Channin is a natural born Teacher with a passion for ceramics that inspires her students. One of Channin's students, Ethan Weiss - 12, just took 4 Blue Ribbons, including Best of Show, and 2 Red Ribbons at the Arizona State Fair.
This class will provide instruction in clay management and beginning wheel throwing techniques. Students will constantly be working on wheel during class and are encouraged to glaze created work during non-class hours. Class fee includes 6 hours of instruction, pottery tool kit, approximately 4 pounds of clay, glazes and all firings. This class is designed for students 13 years of age and older. We recommend KidsWheel for children 6 to 12 years of age.
Pick your Monday, Wednesday and/or Saturday class schedules. You register for class times and dates that work for you. They do not need to be consecutive. Registration for each class is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
